In the heart of Panagia, visit Mehmet Ali Square, home to a statue of Kavala’s famous son, and the Old Lighthouse, both standing as symbols of the town’s rich past. The neighborhood’s colorful Macedonian-style houses and key sights like the Hussein Bey Mosque add layers of history and culture at every turn. End your walk at the pride of the Old Town, Kavala Castle, offering stunning views of the city and sea. ➳ Tips! Take a coffee break at café Bríki and enjoy the view of the Kavala Port. As you explore the castle’s towers, walls, and inner courtyards, you’ll get a sense of its rich history while enjoying some of the best views in Kavala. Where to stay in Thassos
The best town to stay in Thassos Island is Limenas. We stayed at Garden Studios which I can highly recommend! For a more relaxed, island-like vibe, visit Tavern Savvas, located at the smaller port on the other side of town. With its cozy outdoor terrace and slower-paced atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and savor the exquisite flavors of the sea.
